In 2003, Alex Fenton and John Hammond met at Edinburgh University studying music technology. After a couple of years writing and playing acoustic sets under their former name (The Mile), the guys decided they could be more than just another guitar band - and besides, they couldn't find a drummer or bassist to contribute to the immensely creative process that had already begun. So at this point, they began a journey - a two man journey into the powerful sonic world of Flying With Penguins.
Flying With Penguins can be described as a fusion of electronic breaks, drum and bass, weaving synth lines, memorable intertwining guitar riffs, and topped off with powerful vocals for a truly epic listening experience. The use of laptops to loop material in real-time gives an exciting edge to the live performance. In essence, it is a fusion of electronic influences and traditional instrumentation.
Influences range massively, from The Cure and New Order to Mr Scruff, Athlete, Bloc Party, Bonobo and most drum and bass. Tunes you can groove to, cry to, sing along to and move to. Each is a journey.
Enter a new world of sound.
